Topics

Smart Dating is organized in five topics. Each one opens with a short introduction and lists every guide we have published in it.

Dating Terms

Dating has picked up a vocabulary of its own, most of it coined in group chats and on apps. Here we define the words people actually use, say where they came from, and separate the useful ones from the noise, with dictionaries and studies behind each definition.

Dating Rules

Every friend group has its rules: wait three days, decide by the third date, say it by three months. We trace each rule to where it first appeared, check it against the research, and say plainly which ones are worth keeping.

First Dates

A first date only has to do one thing well: let two people find out whether they want a second. These guides cover where to go, what to ask and what it costs, rated on the things that decide the evening.

Relationships

The part after the first few dates is where most of the questions start: when it becomes a relationship, who brings it up, and what counts as normal. These guides answer with survey data and research rather than rules of thumb.

Data

Our own numbers, built from prices and records that anyone can check. Every figure carries its source and the date we read it, and the underlying data is free to download and reuse under a CC BY 4.0 license.
